An HR Partner

Every week, Diana Carreiro can be found in the offices of a young but growing Massachusetts biotech firm. Technically speaking, Diana is an employee of Genesis Consolidated Services. But to the employees of the biotech company, Diana is the in-house manager, organizer, team-builder and problem-solver who ensures that all their HR-related needs are met.

Every Genesis client has a dedicated and experienced Human Resource Business Partner – like Diana – who takes a collaborative approach to employee management. Diana and the Genesis team have been working with the biotech firm since its launch some 18 months ago. The compan'’s CEO chose to partner with Genesis in order to obtain the resources and depth of a full-scale HR department that would help the firm expand.

Diana meets with the CEO each week to discuss HR-related issues that directly impact his business – from employee relations and talent acquisitions to budgetary matters and open enrollment. She sits down with the top management team for briefings on employee engagement, process improvements and hiring resources. And she meets with individual employees to walk through specific personnel matters of health benefits, paid time off or family leave, for example.

Over the last year, Diana has created a performance management evaluation system for employees and conducted training sessions for managers. Later this year, she will roll out an employee satisfaction survey that she designed specifically for this firm.

Genesis' secure data management tool keeps track of the company's payroll, employee data and personnel files. These management tools, an integral part of the services Genesis provides, would otherwise cost a company $5,000 - $25,000 depending on a company's need and compatibility.

Genesis also provides access to job listing boards and compensation data to help the company find the best employees and set competitive wages.

"As a small firm in a hot field, I'm competing with much larger companies for highly educated and talented workers. Having Genesis as our HR partner gives us an added edge, allowing us to provide the same top-notch benefits as companies many times our size," the CEO said. "Genesis handles our payroll, our employee relations and our benefits so we can focus instead on our primary mission: advancing science and enhancing cardiovascular research. And by keeping our employees happy, we can save thousands of dollars each year on recruitment and retraining costs."
