New requirements tied to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) take effect on January 16, 2009. The changes, which clarify existing regulations, include important new rules regarding time off for active duty military family members.
Companies with more than 50 employees must be sure they comply. These employers must have a documented policy, meet notice requirements, manage certifications (if applicable), and maintain timely communication with the eligible employee.
Clients of Genesis, however, don’t have to worry. We work with our partner firms to make sure they are in compliance with the FMLA and other employee-related federal regulations, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
