Knowledge Is Power

At Genesis, we craft, administer and evaluate strategies that help companies gain a stronger understanding of their most important assets: their people. One of the most effective methods is employee surveys.

Employee surveys are a great way to take the pulse of workers. Yet many firms don't have the time or the staff to develop and administer such a survey – let alone analyze the results and make changes.

One Genesis client – a non-profit, professional organization – calls on us annually to develop an anonymous survey to help keep on top of employee morale. Company executives view this survey as an ongoing investment that reaps rewards for the entire firm. Last year's survey revealed confusion among employees regarding their roles and expectations in the company. To ameliorate this weakness, the Genesis HR Business Partner worked with the non-profit's executive director to create job descriptions.

The result? This year, not only did role awareness increase, but productivity also rose because performance expectations were much clearer.

"The employees of the firm appreciate the chance to speak their minds in the survey, and then value their employer even more when they see positive changes implemented as a result," the Genesis HR Business Partner said. "Meanwhile, the employer gets to hear uncensored views from the staff that can lead to constructive change for everyone."
